From Cascade Books-Wipf and Stock.
Our pastor, the Rev. Dr. Walters-Sleyon, has authored a two-volume book entitled "The Rush for Black Diamonds."
Both Volumes demonstrate how philosophy, religion, race, and economic interests have built and sustained the legacies of the transatlantic slave trade into chattel slavery, into colonial slavery, and into penal slavery-mass incarceration post-1970. Volume Two also explores the necessity of a "prison theology," considering the high rates of incarceration of Black people, especially in the United States and the United Kingdom's penal system.
"The Rush for Black Diamonds" is a metaphor for Black people through the transatlantic slave trade into the modern penal systems of the US and the UK. It is a great resource for Black History Month.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
